Fort FortingtonGold Cost: (G) Cannons 3S x(G) Ships of any nationality may build this fort. When building this fort, place a number of cannons/flags on it equal to the amount of gold (G) you take from your home island. For this one it could be assigned the the "equipment" faction. That way it'd spare people on some confusion. Honestly I kinda like the idea of a house rule that only allows you to build a fort if you have at least one ship of that nationality.

That's actually one of the standard rules for forts, not a house rule. I agree that it's better to keep each fort specific to a nationality - but if a truly generic fort was going to exist, the one I posted would be a possible way to do it.

You'll want to look in the latest version of the Pirate Code for that - it contains the *full* rules for forts, along with all the little rules tweaks and things that have been made for them over the years. hmm... Interesting forst can be "abandoned" in the same way that ships can be derelict.
Maybe something with an ability to play off of that?

Perhaps this: "This fort's cannons cannot be eliminated, but it's flags can be. Whenever it has no flags left it cannot be given shoot actions."
