...I like Riz's idea, but I'm not a big fan of the art...nothing against you, but the cards I did look at weren't really similar enough in art style to fit in with existing deckplates (some of your blank tamplates are nice, I just don't know why you aren't using them No offense taken. To be honest, I haven't released any of the art yet. My site at the moment is just stats. The actual art will be a downloadable format that will directly translate to a printer. Once I get my CriCut machine and do what i need on it, I will also release the info to have a CriCut cut it correctly.

...on a similar note: what are the real fonts Wk used for certain aspects of the cards...name, ability, flavor text? I've been using the closest thing I have right now...mainly Times for ability/flavor text...can't recall the other font right now...but its kind of "Piratey" or Medieval a bit cursive...serious but with elements of humor...for a font that's a really weird description...anyway, gotta find the real fonts so they look better. I suggest using Windlass. That is the font that was used for Spanish Main, and is also the font that I like the best. Here it is: ww.fontstock.net/11061/Windlass.htmlPersonally I like Riz's stuff. Which is of course why I suggest that we do what he does. Let us know how the Cricut machine works out for you! ;D

Once I can afford one I will. I am hoping to make my set fully no-muss no-fuss for anyone. I suggest using Windlass. Exactly the font I use on my site, and it is also available for download from there as well.

cool, thanks...
@vald: I'm not knocking any of the actual ships, abilities, stats, etc...just need to make the art of the actual cards fit in better with the established styles.
...there's just something that isn't sitting right with me...maybe I'm too used to the new style that was established with PotC and continued through RotF, F&S, and SS...maybe its the ones that are completely new...that one with the really dark, oriental carpet look just makes me cringe for some reason...maybe switch the top and bottom patterns...I don't know...its your template, I guess you can do whatever you want...I just have a feeling that if it were made in reality it would be difficult to read text on it. Whatever...
I hope it all turns out...I'll have to check in again later...maybe I was in bad modd when I first looked at them...or tired, or something, it was a weird weekend.
By any chance if you do buy the cutting machine, could we on the site send you files to be printed/cut?...of course for a fee I'd assume...just suggesting that if you did have it we could use it to put some kind of physical cards out to our players instead of sending them to a webpage and printing their own (most people don't have printers that can print on thick materials)...maybe a better/cheaper idea...we print a few "promo" pieces (small ships, crew, equipment) and print on them the web address where to get more printable game pieces. Could be interesting...

I was at Meijer the other day and they had a Cricut machine...at least that what it said on the package...$179.99...still high, but here's an interesting idea...I went to Michael's (Crafts store)webpage and looked to see if they carried it...they do...also, Michael's sends out 40% off any one item coupons almost every week in the local newpaper ads...I'm not sure you can use it on the Cricut machine, but if you're feeling like taking a chance you might think about it...cause $100 is quite a bit more affordable...plus, if you need more blades get the next coupon and buy more blades next week or the week after...40% off is a great deal!

Been there, tried it. The fine print on the 40% off coupon explicitly excludes Cricut and couple other items.
Next consideration is to buy it from Walmart, make a couple test pieces quickly and then return it.

Indeed I am quite skeptical Cricut is satisfactory, that's why I suggested to use Walmart's generous return policy.
However, the other machines you suggested aren't significantly different. I had always planned to print then cut anyway. Cricut just requires extra software to do it.
But the big table you linked is a GREAT resource. It finally provide the answer I was looking for: what materials it can and cannot cut. And it gives the names of many more machines worth considering. This requires more research...
Thanks!

also, you might need to consider the min/max cut lengths...some of the holes for masts are quite small...Michael's webpage said the Cricut could cut .25" min...I think...that sounds a bit too large for masts...might want to check again...anyway, make sure to consider that.
