well, since the rants and raves was getting off topic with ship names, i decided to move it here, so...
well, i'm talking about ship names like, um, cant think of any at the moment, well maybe the Black Momba, thats not very piratey, and the flavor text doesn't justify the name either like the Black Mongoose did, so if the name is justifyable, i can understand

I've been thinking we're starting to see the core group of people here that will be responsible for this set. Perhaps new ship names etc should be more personal to the fans responsible. Perhaps a street name you lived on, or a town you've lived in. Just a suggestion for personalizing the set. My best choices based on above suggestions would be USS Edgewood, or North Hampton Or a pet?--- Buxby

Funnily enough, I've seen about 5 names of Spanish ships in the city that I live in.

hey...every weekend on the way to our game I go past a street named Ramsgate...you can't tell me that's not weird...
...I guess names would come down a bit to the set theme and such, but not all of the obviously...the ones based on actual ships would probably get a real name, but any that aren't completely historical would probably need a name made up for them...hmm...we'll have to come back to this when we know where the set is going.

some funny names could come out of this, but from pets? salt and pepper (my parakeets) dont sound like ships, ha ha, could be fun

mmm...salt and pepper *Homer Simpson drool*...could be a fun Pirate ship, ya sea salt! yargh! maybe it has different abilities depending on a die roll, have a "salt" ability and a "pepper" ability...maybe not...
the fun inside joke types were kind of fun...Corazon Dorado...Heart of Gold...that was classic and it even implied if a President were to be traveling to Spain they'd ride on board Corazon Dorado, even better! haha!
...we've had a number of ships with references to Guillotines, but never a ship just straight up called Guillotine, that might be funny...it kills all the enemy crew when it wins a boarding party, or maybe just one of your choice. although I suppose this wouldn't be very historically accurate...which is more toward where the set is leaning right now.
again, more polls! we should get a name poll going on for certain ships when we get closer to production.

I'd like to see a USS Minnesota, although the territory wasn't formed till' 49.
The names will depend on the theme, and the theme (and the set itself) depends on the fans & cost of printing. So, we will see.

harmon actually sounds like a real name, but if that happens then every one would want their names up on ships too

USS Harmon is the name of two destroyer-escorts: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_HarmonIf this set gets off the runway, we can have who created what stats/artwork online, sort of a credits (maybe a video on youtube. Of course, we are getting ahead of ourselves). That would be ample payment. To me, anyway.

Just some names I thought might be good for Spanish ships:
Cielo (Sky) Estrella Brillante (Bright Star)

spaniards were more based on royal and religous names, so someting like: -La Corona del Mar (the crown of the sea) -El Cruz (the cross0 -La Purisima Concepion (i think its the pure conception)

It's La Purísima Concepción and it means The Immaculate Conception.
