I may be a computer geek and a math geek, but I'm not a nerd. IMO, nerds are those who are dumb but try to seem smart. They say dumb things that are supposed to sound smart. "The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool." -- William Shakespeare

Well, I feel rather awkward for admitting this, but I'm a mere minor. Well, I quit. Haha, just kidding. I'm pretty sure that no one really cares. I'm a minor too so it's really not that big of a deal. Thouh it does say a great deal that there are as many minors interested in this project as adults, so I find this funny. Though actually, now that I think about it, my mom works in public relations, so I will try and get what I can.

Harmon758: where i live, nerds are the smart people who are obssessed with one of the following; Star Wars, Star Trek, and most anything sci-fi, and are good at school and freak out when their grade hits a 95% geeks are the people who lke video games, comic books, stuff like that, but aren't as smart as the nerds vladsimpaler: i think its good that we get a mix of ages so that we can see whats appealing to everyone, and not only to the young cuase it looks cool and do cool things or the not-so-young who look more to playability than asthetics (in most cases)

Lol, I don't like Star Wars or Star Trek or sci-fi, I'm really really good at school, but I don't freak out when I get less than a 95, and I don't really like video games and comic books. So what group am I in? Half and half?

To be honest, its not so much that as that people just dislike me for one reason or another. Its not like I try and put them off or anything. To be fair, its not like a approach them. I'll how the first week of school goes. If everyone is still unkindly, I'll just chack it up that they are a bunch of #@$!*, and that I just meet all the wrong people (I think my forumlife proves this, there is more kind people on the forums than I've ever met in person). Right, I'll start anew thread on Production.

Oh gosh you guys are a bunch of kids? Ok being kids is fine, but this is getting a little too ambitious for kids.
Why not start with a more modest plan and ramp it up after you build some experience. It's not out of reach for high school kids, but you need a realistic plan.
IMHO you should shelve the styrene cards for now, make some cardboard sets and raise some money by selling these cardboard sets. I would start with Kinko's...
Ok let's say you make a game out of postcards, 60 units (ship/crew/treasure) and you fit 3 units to each postcard. A minimum run is 500 (dups) (meaning you end up with 500 full sets), the total printing cost is $5200 plus tax. You still have to cut it yourself and do all the work and you end up with paper postcard instead of styrene. $10/set which is pretty affordable but you have to find 500 buyers.

Oh gosh you guys are a bunch of kids? Ok being kids is fine, but this is getting a little too ambitious for kids. There is a fine balance of "kids" to "adualts" on this board. It seems, unfortunatly, that most of the people willing to help with the production are too young to do the paperwork. Of course, I fully understand how the adualts do (hopefully!) have profesional, full-time jobs. But, 10 minutes to fill out a cost estimate? Is it really that hard? EDIT:I forgot, welcome ding73ding to the forums, your ideas are much welcome. ;D

A bunch of kids! Come on, you gotta admit, most people who are going to play this game are kids...including myself. Lord D, how did you use that smiley??

A bunch of kids! Come on, you gotta admit, most people who are going to play this game are kids...including myself. The booster packs do say "8+" on them, so its not like you should expect to see no kids at all... Other than production, I don't see how adaults differ from kids in this game. Its one of my personal favorites actually, its on yuku forums, I snagged and put it on my photobucket, and just copied it here.

OK, these points are off-topic: 1. ohhh, so you copied it; I thought it was another smiley you put as optional. 2. Why do you spell it as adaults? Is that a British spelling or something? In America it's spelled adults. 3. Btw, the new "news fader" is super fast, but you're right about nothing happening; there's been very little activity here this past week.
